Higher Orbits set to launch at Madison’s library for “Go For Launch! Alabama 2023”

MADISON – Higher Orbits will be back at the Madison Public Library for Go For Launch! Alabama 2023 thanks to support from Jacobs Space Exploration Group and BRPH.

“At the Jacobs Space Exploration Group, we are always looking for good opportunities to support STEM programs. We were drawn to Go For Launch! due to its unique approach. Mentoring by astronauts with the possibility of launching the participants’ science experiments into space creates an impactful setting to motivate the development of critical thinking and innovation,” said Jeff Haars, Vice President and Program Manager of Jacobs Space Exploration Group. “We also appreciate the program’s emphasis on developing leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. STEM jobs in Huntsville will continue to be in high demand and Go For Launch! is helping develop tomorrow’s technical workforce.”

The hands-on flagship program of Higher Orbits spotlights the wonders of spaceflight and space exploration to provide students across the country the opportunity to develop and strengthen their skills in STEM, teamwork, communication, research design, and leadership. While focusing on spaceflight, Go For Launch! students work alongside a featured astronaut at each event to learn and develop important skills that can be applied in any professional field.

A part of Higher Orbits 2023 Series, this event will mark the second Go For Launch! in Alabama at the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library.

“Space Inspires! We are over the moon to work with even more stellar students in Alabama for this event. We are galactically grateful for the support of Jacobs Space Exploration Group, BRPH, and HMCPL for helping make this program possible,” said Michelle Lucas, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Higher Orbits.

The Diversity and Inclusion Coalition of Arianespace, Avon Machining, Burns & McDonnell, Iridium, and organizational partners, OBAP play an appreciated and impactful role in Higher Orbits’ ability to work with students across the country.

Open to students grades 8 through 12, Go For Launch! Alabama will be held June 20-21, 2023 at the Madison Public Library, the host partner for this event. Interested students can register online at:https://higherorbits.org/go-for-launch/.
