Burritt on the Mountain to host “Underground Railroad: Journey to Freedom” this Saturday
Burritt on the Mountain is hosting a special informative program this Saturday. The historical park will present “Underground Railroad: Journey to Freedom” to commemorate the Underground Railroad and celebrate the resistance against slavery.
Learn the history of the Underground Railroad, immerse yourself in the stories of some of the secret journeys, and hear how the stories themselves were passed on. Experience an interactive trip through the historic park when you put yourself in the shoes of one of the brave individuals who resisted slavery. Learn about the history of African American education and how communities persevered to learn and grow, while you explore the park’s Rosenwald School. Kids can enjoy crafts inspired by the incredible journeys and folk arts of Black Alabamians.
