The Salvation Army of Huntsville launches “Love Beyond Christmas” campaign
HUNTSVILLE – The Salvation Army of Huntsville is launching its holiday season campaign Love Beyond Christmas Friday, Nov. 11, beginning with the Angel Tree program. The campaign combines classic holiday programs such as the Angel Tree Program and Ringing at the Red Kettle with a new holiday initiative, the Red Kettle Challenge. The holiday fundraising campaign not only supports the thousands of Huntsville’s underserved during the Christmas season but funds The Salvation Army’s mission in doing the most good throughout the entire year.
“We have an opportunity to help thousands of families have an uplifting holiday season,” said The Salvation Army of Huntsville Major Mark Smith. “We know that this will be a challenging year for our holiday efforts, but we are determined to rally the Huntsville community in the spirit of Christmas and bring joy to those families and individuals in need.”
The Angel Tree Program, which quickly filled up with 500 families in need, provides children and senior adults with Christmas gifts during the holidays to reduce the financial strain on families.
Angel adoptions begin tomorrow, Nov. 11, at the Parkway Place Mall and at The Salvation Army of Huntsville Corps Office at 2114 Oakwood Ave. They are also available for adoption online at bit.ly/hvlangeltree. The adoption window closes Dec. 15, so adopters are encouraged to participate in the program as early as possible.
The classic Ringing at the Red Kettle will return to select retailers. The latest addition to the holiday campaign is the #RedKettleChallenge. This initiative begins Nov. 18 with its kickoff at locations across the Huntsville community. The friendly competition encourages local businesses, organizations and families to raise at least $1,000 for The Salvation Army and then challenge others to do the same.
The Salvation Army is still seeking bell ringers for the classic Ringing at the Red Kettle. There are volunteer and paid opportunities to serve as a bell ringer this holiday season. Other available volunteer opportunities include helping with the Angel Tree in stores, in the Angel Tree Warehouse, Angel Tree gift distribution, delivering holiday meals and more.
The Salvation Army is grateful to its generous 2022 holiday corporate sponsors, including Inline Electric Supply Co. and Redstone Federal Credit Union.
