Daniel Kasambira

HUNTSVILLE – United Way of Madison County announced Tuesday the appointment of Daniel Kasambira as President and CEO of the organization. Kasambira has nearly 20 years of leadership experience with the YMCA at various locations across the country, including 7 years at the Heart of the Valley YMCA where he is currently serving as the Chief Development and Community Engagement Officer. Before that, he served as the Executive Director of Hogan Family YMCA in Madison. He will begin in this role April 11, replacing Clay Vandiver, who recently retired, after serving more than 7 years at United Way.

“Daniel’s experience with nonprofit leadership and his knowledge of the Madison County community makes him an ideal candidate for this position,” said Lisa Wade, the United Way of Madison County Board Chair. “The needs of the community are rapidly growing, and we need a dynamic leader to meet these changing needs. The Board is excited to work with Daniel to address the growing needs of our community.”

“I am absolutely blessed and honored to join the United Way of Madison County at a key moment in our organization’s history,” Kasambira said. “I recognize and appreciate the tremendous role that the United Way of Madison County and our partner agencies play in supporting individuals, families and impacting communities. I am looking forward to working with the board, staff, United Way partner agencies and volunteers to build on the legacy of our organization as we celebrate 80 years in this community next year.”

Kasambira’s community leadership credentials include: Huntsville Committee of 100, Chair of the Alabama Association of Non-Profits Board of Directors, Leadership Huntsville Alumni, Renasant Bank Advisory Board of Directors, Community Action for Youth (CAFY) Steering Committee, Community Kite Festival Steering Committee, Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion Taskforce, and The Rotary Club of Huntsville.

Kasambira is a graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York. He and his wife, Julian, have four children Jamal, Daniel, Isaiah and Imani.
