ALDOT says they are ready in case North Alabama gets slushy roads Sunday

HUNTSVILLE — Alabama Department of Transportation said crews will be ready to clear and treat roads in case of snow or ice this weekend.

ALDOT is monitoring the situation, but current forecasts indicate the possibility of slushy accumulations on roadways across much of north Alabama during the day Sunday and potential for any remaining moisture on pavements to refreeze Sunday night and Monday morning. Motorists are advised to avoid travel if snowy or icy conditions develop. ALDOT will respond to clear and treat roads following any snowfall with accumulation.

Motorists are urged to monitor weather reports and check road conditions by visiting algotraffic.com or downloading the ALGO traffic app. Reduce speed as conditions dictate. Please slow down and move over when approaching highway maintenance or first responders at work. For the latest preparedness tips visit www.ema.alabama.gov.
