Attempted kidnapping investigated in Madison determined to be false

UPDATE: According the City of Madison, the Madison Police Department has determined the reported kidnapping was false. No other information was released.

MADISON – Rumors spread early Tuesday morning of an attempted kidnapping in Madison Monday evening. It allegedly occurred in the Crown Pointe subdivision, close to Columbia Elementary School. Around mid-morning, a statement from Madison Police Chief Johnny Gandy confirmed the police department investigated the situation. No other information was released.

“MPD is aware of a reported attempted kidnapping Monday evening, and have fully investigated the situation,” a statement emailed to media read. “We will continue to follow up and keep the community abreast if any substantial information arises. Please contact MPD at tellmpd@madisonal.gov  if you have any supporting evidence to corroborate this occurrence. Currently, the family does not wish to make any public statements.”
