All-State Basketball Teams Feature Local Players

MADISON- Three of the four local schools are represented among the 2021 Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State Basketball Teams recently selected from among all the schools across Alabama. Only James Clemens did not receive a selection while Bob Jones and Madison Academy had one each and Sparkman two selections from their squads in nearby Harvest.

In Boys, the Class 7A selections included, Second Team- Calen Lightfoot, Sparkman. The 5-11 junior guard. Third Team selections featured Jalen Jackson of Bob Jones. The 6-1 senior guard averaged 18.1 points, 9 rebounds and 2.3 assists in the 2020-2021 season. He was an All-Area 8 Team selection for the Patriots who were 12-13 on the season.

In Girls, the Class 7A Lady Senators of Sparkman were represented on the Third Team by 5-7 sophomore guard Kennedy Langham who secured 14.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.1 assist during the Senators’ 20-11 season record. In Class 6A, Libby Privett of Madison Academy was the lone selection from the Lady Mustangs on the Third Team. The 5-8 junior guard posted 11.9 points, 5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game in the just completed season as she made 79-percent of her free throws and 36-percent of her three-point shots.
