Several retail businesses announced for Clift Farm development

MADISON COUNTY – We have been getting a better picture of the retail businesses that will be located at Clift Farm near Madison. Located on Highway 72 between Balch Road and Wall Triana Highway, bordering the city limits, the massive 550 acre mixed-use development will include a Publix, which is scheduled to open in October 2020, Hotworx and Papa Murphy’s Pizza.

Other previously announced tenants include Hollywood Feed, Taco Mama, The Joint Chiropractic, Supercuts and Lush Nails. Chick-fil-A also recently announced their plans to move across Highway 72 to Clift Farm.

SRS Real Estate Partners said Clift Farm’s 60-80 acre commercial portion will be anchored by Publix and include traditional retail and main street village retail, plus 300 multi-family apartment units. 470+ acres adjacent to the commercial portion will be developed as residential neighborhoods with walking trails, parks and other amenities.

“The Clift Farm development will generate new and improved roadways in the area including the widening of Highway 72 with the addition of a westbound lane from Wall Triana to Balch Road, two new intersections on Highway 72, the widening of Balch Road with the addition of two connecting roads,” stated a press release from SRS on Wednesday.

Hotworx is a virtually instructed exercise program using infrared heat absorption, while incorporating a 30-minute isometric workout or 15-minute High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) session. Hotworx will be occupying 1,927 square feet at Clift Farm.

Papa Murphy’s Pizza is a take-and-bake pizza company based in Vancouver, Washington. It began in 1995 as the merger of two local take-and-bake pizza companies – Papa Aldo’s Pizza and Murphy’s Pizza. The company and its franchisees operate more than 1,300 outlets in the United States and Canada. Papa Murphy’s is the fifth-largest pizza chain in the United States, and will be occupying 1,170 square feet at Clift Farm.

With the leasing of these two new tenants, only one 1,300 square feet space remains to reach 100% leased at Clift Farm’s Publix-anchored center.

SRS Real Estate Partners represented Fuqua Development LP, the developer of Clift Farm, in the leasing of space. The master developer for Clift Farm is Louis W. Breland, owner of Breland Companies and Smart Living, LLC.

One of the expected top issues for the newly elected Madison City to consider in the upcoming months is whether or not to annex Clift Farm into the city. Proponents of the move point out the needed sales tax revenue from businesses located at the development, while opponents say adding that many homes would overburden the city’s already overwhelmed school district.
