MADISON – There have been a total of 46,424 confirmed cases reported across the state Wednesday morning according to the ADPH. At least 467,754 total tests have been administered. Since March 13, there have been 3,006 patients hospitalized.

After reporting just one confirmed death due to COVID-19 over the long Fourth of July weekend, the state’s number of deaths officially topped 1,000 with 1,032 deaths this morning.

Within the last 14 days, there have been 13,665 cases confirmed in Alabama and at least 127,292 tests have been taken.

In Madison County, a total of 1,620 cases have been confirmed with 26 additional probable cases. There have been eight COVID-19 related deaths confirmed. There is one probable death that has not been confirmed yet. In the last 14 days, Madison County has seen 805 new cases with 8,909 people tested. There were 128 new cases confirmed Tuesday.

In Limestone County, 525 cases have been confirmed with five probable cases. There has been one COVID-19 death. In the last 14 days, there have been 208 new cases with 1,875 people tested.

Health care officials say that any case rate or spike increase from July 4th weekend will be noticeable within 7-10 days due to the delay of symptom onset and tests taking seven days for results to come in. Even with a county-wide mask ordinance, which went into effect Tuesday evening, there could be a significant increase in transmission and case counts reflected in the numbers late next week.

Of the total cases, there are approximately 22,082 presumed recoveries across the state. Cases are presumed recovered if it has been 14 days or more since the case tested positive if they were not hospitalized, or if it has been 32 days or more since the case tested positive if they were hospitalized or if hospitalization was unknown. All deaths excluded. The ADPH updates this number weekly.
