Madison City Farmers Market to open season as scheduled on Saturday

MADISON – The Madison City Farmers Market will open their season Saturday, April 11. Market organizers say they decided to open as scheduled because farmers’ markets are considered “essential to continued critical infrastructure”.

The Farmers Market, located at 1088 Hughes Road next to Trinity Baptist Church, will open tomorrow at 8 a.m. and close at noon. They will continue to open each Saturday at the same times.

There will be some changes through the month of April in light of the COVID-19 state directives. They include:

o   Food vendors only: produce, meat, eggs, cheese, bread, and other prepared foods
o   All booths will be ten feet apart to allow for better social distancing
o   All vendors will wear gloves when handling, packing, and selling at the market
o   Only vendors will be allowed to touch the products and tables
o   Request customers attend with only 1 person per household
o   Pre-order and pre-pay with our vendors, when possible
o   No pets allowed – Only service animals
o   No customer supplied reusable cups, thermoses, jars or bags will be used
o   Vendors will not accept used egg cartons during this time
