Gov. Ivey issues stay-at-home order for the state

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey today issued a stay-at-home order for the state, beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“More has to be done. Stay at home,” she said. “It’s now the law.”

The order would expire April 30.

“I can’t say this anymore clearly—COVID19 is an imminent threat to our way of life, and you need to understand that we’re past urging people to stay home,” Ivey said. “I plead with you to do your part to stop the spread of COVID19. We’ve got to take this order dead serious; otherwise, the fact is more people will end up dying.”
