Huntsville Hospital Foundation to serve as hub for homemade mask donations to hospital workers

MADISON AND HUNTSVILLE – Countless companies, individuals and organizations have shown their appreciation for area healthcare workers over the past couple of weeks as the state and nation grips with a COVID-19 outbreak. One of the ways people have offered to help is through making homemade facemasks.

The Huntsville Hospital Foundation (HHF) said they have received many offers from residents across North Alabama who are willing to make homemade masks for area hospitals.

“We are very thankful for their willingness to help protect our health care workers during this crisis,” a spokesperson with the HHF said. “The health system has approved the wearing of clean, homemade masks in hospital environments that do not require PPE, and the Foundation will serve as the hub for these gifts.”

The Foundation posted photos on their Facebook page showing how to make the masks and shared a video that can be useful for anyone wanting to make masks for the hospitals. Click here for the video.

Once complete, masks can be delivered to HH Occupational Health Group (OHG) locations in Huntsville, Madison and Decatur, Monday through Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

The addresses and contact information for those locations are:

Huntsville: HH Med Mall, 1963 Memorial Parkway SW #24, 35801; (256) 265-7000
