Coronavirus cases increase by 63 overnight

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), at 9:15 a.m. Thursday there are now 449 cases of coronavirus in the state with one death, a Jackson County man. That is an increase of 63 cases since Wednesday at 5 p.m.

In Madison County, cases have increased by two from yesterday to 37. Limestone now has 10 cases. It is uncertain how many of those cases are in the city of Madison. An employee with the city’s engineering department tested positive earlier this week.

The ADPH is showing 2,812 have been tested, but those number may not be accurate. Total tested primarily represents tests that were satisfactorily performed by the ADPH Bureau of Clinical Laboratories, along with some data from commercial labs. Commercial labs are required, by law, to report positive tests to ADPH. Some commercial labs do not report negative specimens.
