Local Wrestlers Qualify For State Tournament

MADISON- Six wrestlers from Bob Jones qualified for the AHSAA State Wrestling Tournament after finishing among the top four in their weight class at the North Sectional held in Birmingham.

James Clemens qualified two of its wrestlers after the contests at the North Sectional.

Bob Jones qualifiers included: 120- Ethan Bordelon (2nd place); 126- Brantley Griffin (4th place); 138- Manny Marrero (2nd place); 160- Chris Congress (3rd place); 182- Evan Pippin (1st place); 285- Mikey Lucente (3rd place).

James Clemens qualifiers were: 152- Sebastian Davis (2nd place); 220- Ryan Keepers (2nd place).

The Sparkman Senators had three athletes qualify for the State Tournament: 160- Koby Draper (4th place); 220- Shawn Sellers (4th place); HWT: Tate Campbell (4th place).

Team scores in Class 7A were 1. Vestavia Hills 235, 2. Huntsville 165, 3. Bob Jones 140.5, 8. Sparkman 55, 9. James Clemens 52.5.

The State Tournament is scheduled for this weekend at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.
