PHILADELPHIA, PA.- For the third time in his career since joining the National Football League in 2014, Jordan Matthews is playing for the Philadelphia Eagles. He resigned with the team after starting the season with the San Francisco 49ers where he appeared in one game and was then released midway through October.

The former Madison Academy All-State player was signed by the Eagles to help an injured riddle receiving corps including star DeSean Jackson who is out for the remainder of the 2019 season due to surgery to repair an abdominal tear. Matthews is very confident he can regain his position with the Eagles as he played for the squad for three seasons after being drafted by the team in 2014 out of Vanderbilt before being traded to Buffalo for one season then returning to Philadelphia one year later.

The 27-year old Matthews has posted receiving statistics of 270 catches for 3,255 yards and 22 TDs in his career. He has had the injury bug including surgery for a thumb injury and surgeries on both right and left knees.

He’s regarded as a non-flashy possession receiver with good hands and a big target at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds. Due to his experience with the Eagles’ offense and familiarity with current Philadelphia quarterback Carson Wentz, Matthews is expected to be a quick insert to its offense that is ranked about midway through the teams in passing. The Eagles are currently in second place in the NFC East.
