Mustangs score big on homecoming night

MADISON – Madison Academy celebrated their homecoming with a big 44-16 win Friday night in a Class 5A, Region 8 matchup with Brewer. The 8th ranked Class 5A Mustangs struck fast and hard, jumping out to a 17-0 lead after one quarter and leading 31-6 by halftime. With 13 more points in the third quarter, Madison Academy’s scoring onslaught was wrapped up for the night.

The Mustangs jumped out to an early lead in the game when quarterback Avery Seaton threw for a 45 yard touchdown pass to Deuce Spurlock in the first couple of minutes of the game, and completed another touchdown pass just before the end of the first quarter.

Seaton had a big night, adding one more touchdown pass and a one-yard touchdown run. He completed 12 of 15 passes for 278 yards. He also ran for 122 yards on nine carries. His 63-yard completion to Clay Pitsinos and his 61-yard run set up Josh Malone touchdown runs.

Slate Rucker caught five passes for the Mustangs, totaling 158 yards and two touchdowns. Malone’s two scoring runs covered seven and three yards. Andrew Clark kicked a 27-yard field goal. Kaden Cherry, Evan Craighead and Chuck Moore recovered fumbles.

The Mustangs (3-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Ardmore. The Tigers come into the 5A Region 8 challenge with a 2-2 record. They were defeated by Arab, 42-14, last week.

MA HOMECOMING – Madison Academy held their homecoming game Friday and celebrated with a 44-16 win over Brewer. Former Auburn head coach and U.S. Senate candidate Tommy Tuberville was even there for the coin toss.
