HUNTSVILLE – The fourth annual Mompreneur event will examine the unique challenges for mothers who currently are or want to become business owners.

This specialized event on Sept. 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. will be held at the new Invention to Innovation Center or I2C on the University of Alabama in Huntsville campus. Following the seminar, guests can attend a cocktail hour.

The Catalyst Center for Business & Entrepreneurship and Rocket City Mom are hosting Mompreneur.

“Moms in business have their own unique set of challenges. We want to create a space where they can come together and learn from each other along with gaining support,” Catalyst Program Director Katie Williams said.

Mompreneur assembles “moms of all kinds together, including moms who want to be their own boss, moms who want to contribute to the family income, or moms who are already in business but feel alone and need to connect,” Williams said.

“I’m so excited Rocket City Mom is a part of Mompreneur again this year,” Managing Editor and Publisher Stephenie Walker said. “Everyone in that room understands there’s no such thing as ‘work-life balance,’ and everyone walks away with real strategies they can apply to both their personal and professional lives.”

The 2019 Mompreneur Event will allow moms in business to “Dig It, Water It, and Grow a Blooming Business,” with small-group sessions paying homage to gardening tasks, such as “Break New Ground” and “In the Weeds.”

Local presenters will include Amanda Howard, Amanda Howard Sotheby’s International Realty; Dawn Pumpelly, Scout Guide Huntsville; Amber Gray, Gray Salon; Sonia Robinson, BIO Alabama; Shannan Malone; Mike Johnson, Maynard Cooper & Gale Law Firm; and Lauren Gentry and Jared Sharp, Warren Averett CPAs and Advisors.

Facilitators for breakout sessions will include Ana Lewis, Native or Not; Beth Ridgeway, Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau; Jennifer Holliday, Holliday Design Studio; Melody Tholstrup, My Size Marketing; April Keating, Cre8ve Content Co.; and Megan Nivens-Tannett, Flourish Consulting Services.

New in 2019, Flourish Consulting Services is sponsoring the “Just Add Water (or Wine)” cocktail hour. “‘Mompreneurs’ will have time to relax and nurture new founded business relationships,” Williams said.
