Free workshop on ‘The Power of Music’ slated for Jan. 28

MADISON — A free workshop on “The Power of Music” will be held Monday, Jan. 28, immediately following “Baby Storytime” in the Children’s Area Program Room at the Madison Public Library.

Baby Storytime will last from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

The workshop will be presented by educators from the Parent to
Parent Huntsville Team, a program of the Military Child Education Coalition.

The workshop, which is free and open to the public, will focus on the impact music has on a child’s cognitive development. A variety of resources will be provided to help parents incorporate various rhymes, songs and finger play into their daily routines, as well as handouts
that parents can take home and use to replicate these in the future.

This program is being coordinated with Baby Storytime and will be a hands-on experience for both parents and children.

A nonprofit organization, the Military Child Education Coalition’s mission is to ensure inclusive, quality educational opportunities for all children affected by mobility, family separation and transition. The Parent to Parent Teams, including the one in Huntsville, offer
free informative and educational parent workshops to groups and organizations in the community. The goal of these workshops is to empower parents to better mentor their children through the academic, social and emotional impacts of the transitional lifestyle.

For more information, or to schedule a workshop for your group or organization, contact the Huntsville Parent to Parent Team at ptop.huntsville@militarychild.org.

The Madison Public Library is located at 142 Plaza Boulevard in Madison. For more information on the library, visit hmcpl.org/branches/madison.
