Police identify victim of Sunday’s deadly shooting at Kroger

MADISON – Madison Police have identified the victim of a murder that occurred Sunday afternoon at the Kroger on Wall Triana Highway in Madison.

Police said Zeandre Marjuan Paul Zachary, 25, of Huntsville was the shooting victim found by patrol officers just after 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. He was transported to the Huntsville Hospital ER, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Madison Police also said Monday they have identified a suspect. Investigators are currently trying to locate the suspect, described as a light skin black male. They believe he and the victim were acquaintances.

According to statement from the police, the MPD was notified by a passerby of a gunshot victim who was seen in the rear parking area of Kroger. Officers responded and located the victim.

According to a HEMSI spokesperson, the victim was transported to the Huntsville Hospital ER in critical condition and later was pronounced dead.

The incident occurred outside the store and there is no indication of any danger to the public, police said.
