Madison Academy Mustangs Play At State Golf Championships

MUSCLE SHOALS, AL.- The Madison Academy boys golf team won the Class 4A Section 4 Tournament thus advanced to the AHSAA State Tournament where the Mustangs finished third.

Led by freshman Teagan Miller, who fired rounds of 81 and 75 for a two-day total of 156 and a tenth place finish, the Mustangs finished with a team total of 678.

UMS Wright won the state title in Class 4A with a score of 589. Oneonta’s Cole Davidson fired rounds of 66 and 70 for an eight under total of 136 to take the individual championship.

For Madison Academy, the five member team and their results also included Ty Walker, 11, 80/90-170, 18 place; Nathan Fenza, 8, 82/90-172, 19 place; Carson Smith, 12, 89/91-180, 21 place; Cal Bacon, 12, 93/94-187, 22 place.

The State Tournament was played on the par 72, 6,450-yard layout at The Shoals Golf Course, which is part of the Robert Trent Jones Trail in Muscle Shoals.
