Winter weather advisory for Wednesday
The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a winter weather advisory effective from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 15, as snow sleet and freezing rain will be moving into the area.
Precipitation will begin as snow or sleet early Wednesday morning and then gradually change over to freezing rain by midday.
Precipitation should become all rain by Wednesday evening.
Snow and sleet accumulations will average less than one-half inch.
Ice accumulations will average one-tenth inch of an inch or less.
The high Wednesday will be 36 degrees, with the low reaching 32.
Very cold air and ground temperatures will allow any snow, sleet or freezing rain to accumulate on the roadways, with bridges and overpasses being the most likely to become slick or hazardous.
Although the freezing rain is not expected to be heavy enough to cause significant power outages, weaker power lines, trees and tree branches are susceptible to falling or snapping.
Authorities are asking that motorists use extremely caution while driving.
