CareerNAV sessions to explore tech jobs for women

UAH – Women in Technology // Huntsville or WIT and Career Services at the University of Alabama in Huntsville or UAH are in partnership for women to intentionally connect with inclusive workplaces in a fun, informal way.

The “CareerNAV – Setting Your Course for Success” event will serve as “a compass to navigate the path of success, bringing together trailblazing women and inclusive workplaces in an electrifying fusion of workshops, networking and ‘speed dating,’” Rigved P. Joshi said. Joshi is Director of the Invention to Innovation Center or I2C at UAH.

“This is your chance to meet with companies actively looking to recruit women with talent across all facets of their business,” Joshi said.

CareerNAV on Oct. 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. will assemble in I2C at 850 Ben Graves Drive.

Participants will receive a free headshot session in the GigaParts Photo Booth. Organizers will provide food and drinks during the event (IDs required for beer and wine). Limited seating will be available.

“WIT // HSV events are always free and inclusive, embracing women from all backgrounds. We not only celebrate diversity but also serve as a driving force for meaningful change,” Joshi said.

The agenda opens at 5 p.m. AMP Studio Workshops will present “EmpowHER: Unleash Your Influence with Action-Based Strategies” at 5:30 p.m. Laura Huckabee Jennings, Transcend CEO, will be the presenter.

In this workshop, “participants will learn to equip themselves with tools to become an unstoppable force of change,” Joshi said. “Whether you’re an established leader, emerging influencer or anyone seeking to leave an indelible mark, this workshop is your platform for success.”

Topics will include the psychology of empowerment, thriving in high-stakes scenarios and cultivating meaningful connections.

In another workshop, Rachel Sullivan with Solid Ground Counseling Center will facilitate “Elevate Your Journey: The Transformative Benefits of Mindfulness for Career Women – Mental Wellness Workshop.”

Sullivan’s workshop will examine methods of dealing with the fast-paced world of modern careers. She will discuss finding balance, resilience and personal fulfillment.

“This immersive experience is tailored exclusively for career-driven women seeking to harness mindfulness as a catalyst for professional and personal growth,” Joshi said.

Topics will include unveiling inner resilience, strengthening productivity, making decisions confidently and integrating job/personal life.

In a clever exercise, “Job Speed Dating,” at 7 p.m. will match a participant with a recruiter for a brief ‘meet-and-greet’ icebreaker. Networking will be open.

Participating companies include Accenture, ADTRAN, AWG, Booz Allen, CACI, COLSA, Deloitte, GigaParts, Intuitive, Integration Innovation, Northrop Grumman, SAIC, SRC, Signalink and Yulista, among others.
