REDSTONE ARSENAL – The U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC) on Redstone Arsenal hosted a welcome ceremony on Aug. 20 for Lisha Adams, AMC’s senior ranking civilian.

Holding credentials equivalent to a three-star general, Adams will work as AMC’s new executive deputy to the commanding general.

Previously, Adams served as AMC’s assistant deputy chief of staff for Logistics Integration. In 2014, she transitioned to work as deputy assistant secretary of defense for materiel readiness in Washington D.C.

AMC Commander Gen. Dennis L. Via said Adams’ career as a senior executive has been long, accomplished and distinguished. “But she wasn’t selected for the position based on her record alone,” Via said. “It was her demonstrated potential for even greater success in the future.”

In her new role, Adams will be responsible for materiel life cycle management, acquisition support, personnel and resource management, industrial base operations, enterprise integration and research and development.

Globally, the command has more than 63,000 personnel with an impact or presence in 144 locations and all 50 states.

Adams has compiled more than 30 years of experience in government service supporting Army and Joint Service programs. She graduated from the intern program with AMC Materiel Maintenance Management. She has held various leadership positions in acquisition and sustainment.

In June 2011, Adams was assigned as Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/4 for Logistics Integration, responsible for sustaining the Joint Warfighter.

Adams earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Birmingham-Southern College and a master’s degree in business administration from Florida Institute of Technology. She is certified at Defense Acquisition Level III in program management and lifecycle logistics.

Adams has earned numerous awards from the Department of the Army, including Decoration for Exceptional Civilian Service, Superior Civilian Service, Civilian of the Year and the Commander’s Award.
