TRIANA – “Fall at the Library” is the theme for educational entertainment at Triana Public Library during the new season.

The “Tween/Teen Drop-In for Arts and Crafts” session is held on Mondays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. (A ‘tween’ is a young person between childhood and adolescence, usually from nine to 12 years old.)

The library invites young people who are 10 years old and older to participate in advanced art and craft projects. The activities are designed to take around 30 minutes so participants can drop in late or stay so the child can complete more than one craft item.

On every Tuesday this fall, the “Drop-In Family Art Club” sessions are open to all ages, so Mom and Dad can round up the youngsters and indulge in a just-for-fun painting time.

Because Family Art Club is a drop-in event, participants can arrive at any time. All sessions are open from 2 to 5 p.m., and the art club will meet again on Sept. 10.

The “Wild Robot Read Along” opened Sept. 5 and will continue on Thursdays during September from 4:30 to 6 p.m. School-age children and older will discuss “Wild Robot” by Peter Brown and engage in art and activities related to the book.

This chapter book is excellent for reading with children and also a good choice for chapter-book readers to read independently. The heartwarming and action-packed novel studies the consequences when nature and technology collide. Librarians at Triana encourage anyone to attend any session to discuss the book and get excited for the upcoming release of the “Wild Robot” movie.

“Wild Robot” claimed no. 1 “New York Times” bestselling status. The illustrated middle-grade novel from a Caldecott Honor winner tells an extraordinary story full of action and thought-provoking questions as a robot learns to survive and live in the wilderness. The reading schedule will feature Chapters 21-40 on Sept. 12, Chapters 41-60 on Sept. 19 and Chapters 61-80 on Sept. 26.

On Thursdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., “Storytime in Triana” in the preschool room provides for some playtime and a relaxed storytime, followed by a craft for youngsters who are interested. With no pressure for children to sit quietly in the playroom, this session is a great introduction to storytime.

“LEGO Club” is open every day with new challenges each month.

Grown-ups can enjoy “Paint Night” on Sept. 13 and Oct. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m.; registration is required. They can engage in “Book Page Flowers” from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 28.

Everyone can celebrate the “Triana Library Birthday Party” on Oct. 12 from noon to 4 p.m. Food, games and crafts will commemorate the library’s 30th birthday.
