Madison author Jason Holder writes ‘The Great Puppy Rescue’

Madison author Jason Holder has added another volume to his shelf of children’s books, “The Adventures of Kid America: The Great Puppy Rescue.”

In the book, Agent Adams asks Kid America and his friends to close the puppy mill of their nemesis, Casper and rescue the puppies. Kid and his friends hear whimpering and investigate in an adventure of wits, bravery and innovation.

“The book’s message is to stop puppy mills,” Holder said. “No matter how young or old, everyone has a responsibility to look out for the best interest of animals.”

Five- to 10-year-olds are the target audience. The Kid America series “re-emphasizes important character traits including leadership, hard work, integrity, teamwork, honesty, perseverance and respect that this generation of children can learn through our character-driven stories,” Holder said.

Holder’s next book, “The Great Go Cart Race,” will be released in late winter. He is negotiating with the U.S. Space and Rocket Center to set this book at Space Camp.

Holder is founder and president of Kid America LLC, “the business behind the Kid America brand and books.” He hopes eventually to expand with cartoons, music and ‘Made in the USA’ apparel.

“One secret to my success is my perseverance in an industry flooded with great books and authors,” Holder said. “My biggest secret is having two young boys that have taught me what it takes to be a father, a friend and, most importantly, a role model.”

A native of Marietta, Ga., Holder graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2001, accepted a job with a local defense contractor and since has lived in Madison. Currently, he works as an engineer for Northrop Grumman.

His wife Celeste works as a system analyst at Booz Allen Hamilton. Their sons are Tyler, a kindergartner, and Andrew, 2.

Holder will host a book signing at Southerland Station in Huntsville on Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A portion of proceeds will go to The Ark animal shelter.
