MADISON – Just in time for Halloween, Independent Musical Productions will present the Broadway musical comedy, “The Addams Family.”

Shows will be performed at the Lee Main Stage Theater, 2500 Meridian St. in Huntsville. Based on the popular television series, “The Addams Family” tells the story of the creepy, oddball family who have a different perspective than stereotypical, white-bread families.

“In the true spirit of Halloween, we’re thrilled to present the sensational musical adaptation of that classic American family who embrace all that is sinister and macabre,” publicist Annelle Craig said. In this adaptation, father Gomez faces every father’s nightmare when daughter and princess of darkness Wednesday falls in love with an upstanding gentleman from a respectable family.

“If that weren’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother Morticia,” Craig said. “Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parents.”

This production is suitable for all ages.

Theatre legend Vivienne Atkins and stage veteran Granville Oldham, both Madison residents, are co-directors. Atkins co-founded and serves as artistic director for Independent Musical Productions.

Jessica Alexander of Madison and Marianne Windham are sharing choreography duties.

Actors from Madison in “The Addams Family” cast include Austin Price, who portrays Lucas, love interest of Wednesday Addams and John-Michael White, one of the ghost ancestors. Madison resident Megan Thompson is working as stage manager.

Show times are Oct. 24-25 and Oct. 30-31 and Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m., along with shows at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 and Nov. 1.

Ticket prices range from $30 to $18. Senior citizens, students and military personnel are eligible for a $2 discount on all seats except the loge.
