St. John to conduct blood drive to help seasonal needs

MADISON – In conjunction with American Red Cross, St. John the Baptist Knights of Columbus, Assembly 2024 will conduct a blood drive on Dec. 16.

The December blood drive will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 1057 Hughes Road. The Red Cross blood bus will be parked in the lower parking lot outside the church basement.

With this event, St. John the Baptist Knights of Columbus is continuing its 20 years of bimonthly blood drives. “Almost every week, we are reminded that supplies of blood are in very short supply. Over the past 20 years, we have collected more than 4,700 pints of blood,” blood drive coordinator John W. Horch.

“Once again, we ask for the support of current, former and new donors in our effort to provide the gift of life to those in need of blood and blood products,” Horch said.

Drive organizers urge all donors to go to the Red Cross website at redcrossblood.org to make a donation appointment and to preregister using the RapidPass tool.

On the website, type “stjohns” for the Sponsor Code to find this blood drive. Then, schedule an appointment at any of the available times that are in the list. After selecting an appointment time, visit the RapidPass page to enter history information for yourself. “This signup will save time at the drive,” Horch said.

In other activities at St. John, a nativity walk and cookie contest will be held on Dec. 16 from 1 to 9 p.m. in the parish hall.

For more information, call the church office at 256-722-0130 or Horch at 256-772-3280 or visit https://stjohnscatholic.wixsite.com/stjohnschurch.
