MADISON – Andrea Massey is the go-to person for aspiring business owners who have gotten lost in the bureaucracy. She has founded her own business, Small Business Innovation Research LLC (SBIR).

SBIR “provides research to those looking to start a business but either do not know where to start, get overwhelmed with the process or simply do not have the time necessary to do the extensive research that starting a business requires,” Massey said.

While assisting entrepreneurs, Massey realized the market demand for her services. “Also, with my previous experience, I was able to perform at a highly competitive rate with efficiency and effectiveness, which motivated me to start Small Business Innovation Research LLC.”

Massey can assist people with getting their business license and creating business plans. She can complete research, including but not limited to, products, manufacturers, distribution and demographics.

A business plan is important for “a clear statement of the business’ mission and vision. It’s a blueprint to focus on the company’s energy, keep the company on track and give an idea of potential customers and their buying behavior,” Massey said.

Advertising is an important tool for new businesses to introduce products or services in the market. “Advertising creates consumer awareness and, therefore, attracts potential customers,” she said.

“Concentration and awareness” will be Massey’s secrets to success, she said. “Concentration provides the attention and energy needed to thrive. Being aware of my clients and the market at all times is crucial, knowing that MORE is always wanted.”

“With that being known, I must continuously seek ways to expand so that I not only meet but exceed customer expectations,” Massey said.

Failing to have a long-term plan and “not taking time to accurately assess strengths and weaknesses” are two major mistakes that people make, Massey said.

Massey is a graduate of Bob Jones High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and a masters degree in business at Alabama A&M University.
