Middle, high schools announce schedule pickup days

Due to legislative mandate, school starts later this year, but less than a month remains in summer break before students return on Aug. 20.

For seniors at Bob Jones High School, pickup for schedules and parking passes starts July 25. “Students should go through the auditorium lobby and enter the auditorium. Each student will be given a number,” Principal Robby Parker said. Juniors will follow this procedure on July 30.

However, after initial pickup days, students should enter through the front lobby. “All freshman and sophomore schedules will be distributed on Aug. 14, Patriot Night,” Parker said.

Principal Dr. Brian Clayton at James Clemens High School said “Jets Camp” (schedule pickup) is based on students’ last names:

* A-L, Aug. 8, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

* M-Z, Aug. 9, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

* Make-up day, Aug. 10, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

At Discovery Middle School, eighth-grade students can pick up schedules on Aug. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by seventh-graders on Aug. 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. “During this time, you are welcome to walk through your child’s schedule, find classes and lockers,” Principal Dr. Robbie Smith said. “We will have office staff and administration on-site to answer questions and assist you.”

Teachers will not change schedules on pickup day. “We’ll begin working through schedule change requests on Aug. 22,” Smith said. “I’m really looking forward to getting students back on campus. It gets lonely without them here.”

At Liberty Middle School, schedule pickup is scheduled for July 26-27. “This is a time where you can pick up your child’s schedule, pay fees and have your child locate their locker,” Principal Nelson Brown said.

Liberty students with last names A-L should visit on July 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For last names M-Z, pickup time is July 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Make-up day will be July 31 from 9 to 11 a.m.

Brown said Liberty students will enter at the gym. Students who can’t visit Liberty on designated dates can get their schedules and pay fees on the first day of school.
