Foy is originally from Birmingham. At Alabama State University, he earned a bachelor’s degree in special education and a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision. At Alabama A&M University, he received the education specialist rank.

“I decided to major in education due to the limited amount of males who are involved in education, specifically special education,” Foy said.

His first teaching assignment was at G.W. Carver Sr. High School in Montgomery as special education instructor. Foy then advanced to special education facilitator at Carver and supervised the exceptional education population.

Moving to Madison County in 2005, Foy started as a special education instructor at Buckhorn High School. In 2006, he served as interim department chair for special education and then returned to the classroom in 2007.

From his years in education, does Foy have one student in particular that he will always remember? “There’s really not just one student who sticks out to me because it would be too many mention,” Foy said. “All of my students are special to me.”

“I think that Discovery Middle School has an excellent faculty and staff. The community really embraces Discovery and Madison City Schools at large. Discovery Middle School’s test scores are amongst the highest in the state and its extra-curriculum programs are very competitive,” Foy said.

Foy is a member of county, state and national education associations and completed training with Huntsville Leadership Connect Class – 12.

Kevin Wilson also works as an assistant principal, and Dr. Terry Smith is principal at Discovery.
