HUNTSVILLE – The Committee of 100 has elected Robert P. Davis as chairman of the Committee of 100 Young Professionals for 2017-2019.

The Committee of 100 is a group of 240 chief executive officers and professionals focused on economic development and public education.

Davis works as a senior business analyst at a.i. Solutions. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Auburn University.

A Huntsville native, Davis is a Leadership Connect graduate and a 2011 Young Professional of the Year finalist for the Small Business Awards, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville-Madison County. He is a former member of the BizPac Board, the political action arm of the Committee of 100.

“I am excited to work with our YP members as they become our community’s future political and civic leaders,” Davis said. “I believe the training we receive in public policy and community service is second to none.”

Committee of 100 YP was formed in October 2006 for young professionals who are younger than 40 years old. These individuals receive training and mentoring in public policy and civic issues. The group has sponsored “Rock the Vote” for six election years to engage area young professionals in local campaigns and promote individuals to register to vote.

The 50 members of Committee of 100 YP have monthly programs on economic development and public education topics. They also attend meetings and forums with the full Committee of 100 and receive one-on-one mentoring.

YP members attend local government meetings and receive training in running a political campaign. Their course of study includes the appropriate behavior to serve as an effective member of a board of directors.

The Committee of 100 encourages teamwork and cooperation among local governments, including the cities of Huntsville and Madison, along with Madison County. Committee members work with other organizations and business leaders to encourage cooperative economic development efforts in the North Alabama region. The Committee of 100 has spearheaded a 20-year regional visioning effort, named Launch 2035, with area business leaders.
