KidVenture entertains youngsters, gives parents a break

Unlimited play and fun await youngsters at KidVenture indoor playground.

Rhonda Brewster and Janelle Thomas are partners in this locally owned company at 500 Lanier Road, Suite D.

As a stay-at-home mom, Brewster was frustrated at few options for children’s entertainment. After research, she realized “family entertainment centers (are open) across the country but we didn’t have one.”

Next, she outlined options that parents would want. “It just came together instinctively,” she said. Brewster opened in Huntsville in July 2009. The Madison facility opened in December 2012.

KidVenture has tire swings, ‘monkey bars,’ individual merry-go-round, slide, two inflatables and other stations. The big, wooden pirate ship is a favorite stop, along with giant building blocks and hand-pedaled train cars. Children younger than two years can play safely in a gated area with age-appropriate toys.

“Climbing, spinning, pedaling and running are the standard for playing at KidVenture,” Brewster said. “Our facility has the space and equipment to give kids the active, unstructured play time they need.”

Covering 10,000 square feet, KidVenture has sections for private parties and walk-in play, each with play equipment and refreshment areas. When a party is not underway, children can play on both sides of the building.

Parents can take advantage of drop-off options for needed time for themselves.

“KidVenture has always strived to be a family resource and vital part of the community. With our recent move, we built a small classroom available for use free of charge by non-profit organizations and mothers’ groups,” Brewster said. Classes, semi-private parties and events also can rent the facility.

Family memberships are available, along with walk-in rates. KidVenture doesn’t charge for parents or children younger than one year old. No time limit applies to a child’s playtime.

Hours are Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Private and semi-private parties are available by reservation.

Grand opening will be Jan. 15 at 4 p.m. For more information, email to kidventure@kidventure.biz or visit kidventure.biz or Facebook/KidVentureHSV.
