Rainbow Math Team ranks in Math Olympiad

MADISON – Math Team students at Rainbow Elementary School were among approximately 150,000 students worldwide to participate in the Math Olympiad program.

From November to March, these Madison youngsters participated in a series of five monthly contests of five problems each. Contest officials recognized several Rainbow students for their outstanding work.

Ashwin Prabhakar received the Gold Pin to award his work in at least the 98th percentile, representing the top two percent of students. Elaine Bao, Amelia Dobbs, David Parker and Alex Stern earned the Silver Pin for their work that placed in the 90th to 97th percentiles.

In another part of the contest, students qualified for the Embroidered Felt Patch, an award for the top 50 percent of all participants. These students included Constance Wang, Jonathan Yang, Rachael Ehrman, Sophia Fedoseyev, Kennedy Gore, Amy Park, Ryan Shurtz, Natalie Nguyen, Joshua Chen, Ethan Kueck, Meredith Drummond and Alice Oh.
