Pro-Air offers scholarship bid for high school seniors
MADISON – Pro-Air Services Inc. is offering its seventh annual Pro-Air, Pro-Earth Scholarship opportunity for high school seniors in the area.
Pro-Air, a veteran-owned company, specializes in HVAC/R installation, maintenance and repair services for industrial, commercial and institutional customers in Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and Georgia. Company offices are in Huntsville, Decatur and Birmingham.
“This is an opportunity for Tennessee Valley students to win a scholarship from a Tennessee Valley company,” Pro-Air Vice President Jason Putman said. “It is easy. All (seniors) have to do is write an essay and meet a few requirements.”
The Pro-Air, Pro-Earth Scholarship for $2,000 will be awarded to an area high school student who meets the following criteria:
* Plans to attend a technical two-year or four-year college after high school graduation.
* Maintains a GPA of 3.0 or higher, a minimum score of 24 on the ACT or 1650 on SAT or both of these achievements.
* Provides a written essay that defines a Pro-Earth person.
* Provides the company with Pro-Earth recommendations for implementation after receiving the award.
“Students have until St. Patrick’s Day to send in the essay,” Putman said. “Young people can educate themselves on being a good steward for our home.”
Past winners are graduates from Florence, Decatur, Bob Jones (which has had two winners), Lexington and Grissom high schools.
Along with their completed essays, students should mail their post-secondary education plans and a letter from their high school guidance counselor (including contact information) that certifies their GPA and test scores.
The mailing address is Pro-Air Services Inc., in care of Pro-Earth scholarship, P.O. Box 5054, Decatur AL 35601. The postmark deadline for applicants is March 17. The winner of the Pro-Earth scholarship will be announced on April 13.
