Man arrested for robbing Subway restaurant

A man has been arrested by the Madison Police Department for robbing a Subway on Madison Boulevard.

On May 7, 22-year-old John Paul Mathis of Madison was for robbery third degree. On April 10, police say Mathis robbed the Subway sandwich shop at 8694 Madison Blvd. and took an undetermined amount of money from the cash register.

A citizen later recognized Mathis after seeing the camera footage on television through Huntsville Area Crime Stoppers.

After being positively identified by multiple sources, an arrest warrant was issued and Mathis was subsequently arrested.

He was placed in the Madison County Jail on $5,000 bond.
