MADISON COUNTY – Arts Huntsville is pointing westward for its bi-annual art adventure.

The Art Tour of Homes – Western Edition will feature homes in west Huntsville, Madison and Mooresville. This inspiring event will showcase artistic talents and creative spaces within the community.

Area homeowners and art enthusiasts will open their homes to the public to inspire visitors to start or grow their own collection of art, Patrice Johnson said. Johnson serves as Arts Equity, Marketing and Media Manager for Arts Huntsville.

The Art Tour on Aug. 26 will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available in advance online and the day of, at each home, with exact cash or through TicketSpice.

“Arts Huntsville’s Art Tour of Homes offers a glimpse into the private residences of passionate art collectors and provides insight into how art seamlessly integrates into the fabric of their everyday lives — giving tour-goers greater understanding of how anyone on any budget can use art to enhance their environment,” Johnson said.

Sharing their art in residences will be Marilyn Lands and Robyn Cozby; Diana and Dan Kotecki and Kayla and Kellen Squires; Kim and Mark Lindaman; Dianne and Jim Reynolds; and Laura and Dr. Tom Vaughn.

Tour attendees will receive a guide to local galleries and visual art venues.

Guests can start the tour at any of the homes and present a printout of the ticket or show the mobile ticket. At the first stop, a guest will receive a ticket to carry for the remainder of the tour.

“We have a fantastic home in Clift’s Cove. Not only is the house stunning, it’s very interesting as a multi-family home,” Johnson said. A married couple bought the home with their parents and in-laws; this arrangement is indicative of a recent trend for families.

As a follow-up, the Post Party invites art lovers to discover art in a new neighborhood at an exclusive fundraising event featuring a home not on the public tour. At their southeast Huntsville home, Tim and Kim Ward will host the Post Party on Aug. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Post-party tickets are $100, available only by advance purchase by Aug. 25. A post-party ticket includes a ticket to the public art tour on Aug. 26. This fundraiser supports Arts Huntsville’s year-round projects, including promotions of community events, Panoply Arts Festival and Monte Sano Art Festival.

The tour is a rain-or-shine event. Organizers will not issue refunds.
