MADISON – Summer 2014 has resembled a good-spirited game of musical chairs for administrators and teachers with Madison City Schools.

Last spring, Dr. Timothy Scott resigned as Madison Elementary School principal to accept a position with Huntsville City Schools. Madison County native Melissa Raby Mims from Chelsea Park Elementary School replaced Scott.

When Bob Jones High School students return on Aug. 5, they will meet four new assistant principals. Sylvia Lambert is leaving that job title at Liberty Middle School for the Bob Jones slot. Amy Thaxton formerly worked as instructional specialist at Bob Jones.

In addition, Luther Tiggs transferred as teacher and basketball coach at James Clemens High School for the Bob Jones opening. Jason Quick formerly taught business education at Huntsville High School.

Former assistant principals John Wilson retired in May and Lee Miller in December 2013. Heather Donaldson accepted the coordinator of secondary instruction position at Central Office, vacant after Sally Bruer again retired.

Bob Jones Principal Robby Parker returned to work after only one week following his bicycle accident on June 28 that left him with a broken femur. Parker had surgery to place three pins to help mend the break.

Jackie Wilson-Bradley, special education teacher at The Academy, is now assistant principal at James Clemens.

Columbia Elementary School Principal Mark McCrory resigned to return to South Alabama. Former assistant principal Brent Chapman accepted a principalship in Harvest.

Columbia’s new principal, Jamie Hill, formerly worked as special education coordinator at Central Office. Brian Givens resigned his teacher/coach position at Hazel Green High School to accept Columbia’s assistant principalship.

Katrina Bowling resigned as technology coordinator to work as coordinator of instructional support for Enterprise City Schools. Last December, Dr. Camille Wright resigned as Madison’s director of instruction to be Enterprise’s superintendent.

With Bowling’s departure, Aaron New was promoted to coordinator of technology infrastructure, and Carmen Buchanan, formerly James Clemens assistant principal, was hired as coordinator of instructional technology, a new position.

Angie Bush, who taught French at James Clemens, is assistant principal for the pre-kindergarten center.
