In remembrance of the 9/11 attacks 10 years ago, Madison Academy will hold a series of events on Friday, September 9,as part of the school’s annual I Love America Day.

They celebrate the spirit and resilience of America.

Each of the 904 students at Madison Academy, from the 3-year-old preschool children to the high school seniors will be decorating a white paper bag, similar to luminaries, to signify what the United States of America means to them.

The bags will be a teacher-directed activity and will vary from a prayer for their country, something that reminds them of their country, or various patriotic artwork.

These bags will be placed along the entrance to the Madison Academy campus prior to the morning of Sept. 9 to remind us of the new generation of Americans that will continue to make this a great nation.

In addition, nearly 3000 small United States flags will be placed on the practice field of our campus in remembrance of those that lost their lives on September 11, 2001.  May we never forget their sacrifice as we reinforce to our next generation of Americans that the United States must continue to stand for freedom and liberty in the face of adversity both at home and abroad.

Finally, Madison Academy will celebrate our love of country with a special patriotic chapel service to take place at 8 a.m. on Friday morning at the elementary school and a parade for our preschoolers through 6th grade that will take place at Little Madison Academy beginning at 9 a.m.  Elementary students will place a flag with the others on the practice field at the conclusion of the parade.
