Lyrique Music Productions presents ’13 the Musical’ on June 11-14

MADISON – With an entire cast of teenagers and children, Lyrique Music Productions will presents “13 the Musical” this weekend.

“Lyrique has a great show with lots of local talent. The entire cast and crew, even the director, are all 20 years old and younger,” cast parent Robin Dauma said.

Show times at the Von Braun Center Playhouse will be June 11-13 at 7 p.m. and June 13-14 at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $20 or $25.

Tony award winner Jason Robert Brown wrote “13” that examines the life of 13-year-old Evan Goldman as he struggles to fit in small town Indiana after moving from New York City following his parents’ divorce. The musical reveals various viewpoints for this young teenager and how he copes with fitting in with a group of outcasts.

“Lyrique Music Productions prides itself on providing performance opportunities to the youth of the area. The production will feature two casts, a matinee cast and an evening cast, of performers ages 12-18, as well as, student directors,” spokesperson Patrice Marotta said.

Featured performers from Madison include Kayla Braxton, Kenzie Brown, Nolen Gunner, Nic Kummar, Olivia Knowling, Ryan Knowling, Helen Donahue, Alec Dauma, John Micheal White, Amanda Jackson and Kylie Thorum.

Cameron Duvall portrays Evan in the matinee cast, while Austin Hilbert has the lead role in the evening cast.

Miguel Ladrillono is director with assistance from Sarah Altonji. Jackson Love is music director. Adrienne Dauma is choreographer, assisted by Hope Keys.

Stage manager is Jelli Janine Reidy, and technical directors are Ryan Knowling and Ryan Rorick from Sparkman. Laura Kamelchuk and Rush Waggoner are student directors.

To promote ticket sales, the cast is having a contest among the 10 high schools represented by the group. The school with the most ticket sales will win a “Night on the Town” for their drama teacher, including two tickets to “Jason Robert Brown: Back in Madison County” concert on June 25.
