Midtown names Robinson as Staff Member of the Year
MADISON – Her coworkers at Midtown Elementary School have honored Laura Robinson as “Staff Member of the Year.”
Robinson started working for Madison County Schools as a custodian in 1998. She then accepted a job with Madison City Schools at Bob Jones High School from 1998 to 2018.
“Then I transferred to West Madison Elementary School, which is now Midtown Elementary. I still currently work as a custodian,” Robinson said.
She has a definite, clear-cut work ethic that she sums up in three words: “Get it done.” Robinson also will offer “help wherever help is needed.”
Robinson was one of people who ‘moved a school’ with the major undertaking to relocate from the former West Madison Elementary School to the new MCS building for Midtown. “Getting moved into the new school (Midtown) and making sure it was ready for the students” was a fulfilling challenge for Robinson. “We had very limited time during the summer of 2021 to get moved and set up,” she said.
Harvest is Robinson’s hometown. She attended Sparkman High School.
“I have four grown children, and I raise three of my grandchildren. My grandchildren attend school at Moore’s Mill Intermediate School and Meridianville Middle School,” Robinson said.
When Robinson has some free time, you probably can find her in the kitchen as she cooks some Southern food. “Everyone seems to enjoy my cooking,” she said.
Robinson likes the game of softball and plays whenever she can.
