Kroger recalls spinach in Alabama

Kroger is recalling frozen spinach sold in Alabama and 14 other states due to possible Listeria contamination.

The Kroger Fresh Selections Tender Spinach in 10-ounce bags recalled has a “best if used by” date of Sept. 16 and the universal product code 0001111091649.

The 15 states that sold the recalled spinach are Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia.

Stores included in the recall are Kroger, Jay C, Dillons, Baker’s, Gerbes, Food 4 Less Fremont, Food 4 Less and Foods Co.

Stores not included in the recall are Fry’s, Ralphs, Fred Meyer, QFC, Smith’s, King Soopers, City Market, and Food 4 Less and Foods Co. in California.

If consumed, Listeria can result in severe illness in those who are pregnant or have a weakened immune system.

Customers can return the product for a full refund or replacement. Those with additional questions can contact 1-800-KROGERS.
