Dollar General to open in Triana

TRIANA – Residents of Triana soon will have the chance to shop at a Dollar General store in their town.

“It’s official … Dollar General is coming to Triana, Alabama,” Triana Mayor Mary Caudle said. “This is great news for the Town of Triana. I’m excited that after eight years of trying to get Dollar General to come to town, it’s finally happening.”

“We were told that we didn’t have enough roof tops to support a store, but today that reason is no longer true,” Caudle said. “Their investment and confidence in our community signifies the beginning of new retail and commercial developments coming to our town.”

By May 2017, Caudle had convinced Dollar General to make another review at Triana. “It paid off. Triana citizens will now be able to shop locally. The store will help bring much needed revenue to the town,” Caudle said.

Triana Town Council voted to sell two acres of land to build the new store. The Dollar General store, which will have 9,100 square feet, will be located at 549 6th S.

Construction is slated to start the second week in April, and the new Triana store is scheduled to open in early fall. Dollar General is expected to bring up to ten 10 new jobs to the town. The store will sell a wide assortment of merchandise.
