MADISON – After classes have resumed for a few days (or weeks), Madison schools will host Curriculum Night to share valuable facts with parents for the 2024-2025 school year.

Curriculum Night in Madison City Schools is intended for parents only, and the school’s administrators and faculty invite all parents to attend. Generally, each school allots one hour for the session for each grade.

Teachers will share important curriculum details, classroom and grade-level procedures, expectations, homework policies, discipline practices, tentative field trips and other subjects.

If a parent cannot attend, slides will be available after each meeting, according to Heritage Elementary School’s website.

For example, a Curriculum Night for first grade can cover language arts/reading with “Wonders” by McGraw-Hill that include reading comprehension, phonics, reading fluency, vocabulary, oral language and writing.

Columbia Elementary School has scheduled these dates for Curriculum Night. All sessions will meet in the media center: kindergarten, Aug. 22, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.; first grade, Aug. 19, 6 to 7 p.m.; second grade, Aug. 26, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.; third grade, Sept. 4, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.; fourth grade, Aug. 21, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.; fifth grade, Aug. 29, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.; SLC, Aug. 28, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.; and gifted education, Sept. 3, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

This year, Horizon Elementary School has scheduled a Curriculum Night for each grade: kindergarten, Aug. 15; first grade, Aug. 20; second grade, Aug. 12; third grade, Aug. 26; fourth grade, Aug. 19; and fifth grade, Aug. 28.

At Madison Elementary School, Curriculum Nights are scheduled for Aug. 12, second grade; Aug. 13, first grade; Aug. 15, kindergarten; Aug. 19, third grade; Aug. 20, fourth grade; and fifth grade, Aug. 22.

Administrators and faculty at Midtown Elementary School urge parents to attend Curriculum Night to visit with their child’s teacher in their classroom, learn about this school year and to understand plans for the child’s grade level and school-wide events.

Starting at 5 p.m., Midtown’s Curriculum Nights have this schedule: kindergarten, Aug. 19; first grade, Aug. 22; second grade, Aug. 27; third grade, Aug. 20; fourth grade, Aug. 26; and fifth grade, Aug. 21.
