HUNTSVILLE – With thought-provoking formats, an upcoming free session at the University of Alabama in Huntsville can help women learn about the tech job market.

The Women in Tech or WIT // Huntsville organization is presenting CareerNAV, which will offer women a unique opportunity to intentionally connect with inclusive workplaces.

“Our upcoming CareerNAV event features panel sessions, (job) speed dating and networking elements presenting women a unique opportunity. This is a fabulous chance to meet with companies actively looking to recruit women’s talent across all facets of their business,” coordinator Rigved P. Joshi said.

“The event is free and open to all women,” Joshi said. Joshi works as Director of the Invention to Innovation Center or I2C at UAH.

In addition, participants can enjoy a free headshot session in the GigaParts Photo Booth.

The CareerNAV event on Aug. 31 will be held at the Invention to Innovation Center or I2C at UAH at 850 Ben Graves Drive. Participants must RSVP, and seating is limited. To RSVP, visit bit.ly/WIT_HSV_CareerNAV.

Food and drinks will be served. IDs will be required for wine and beer.

Check-in and networking time will start at 5:30 p.m. Panel discussions at 6 p.m. will review “Early Career in Tech” and “Female Tech Leadership.” At 7 p.m., participants can pursue Job Speed Dating; Recruiter eet and Greet; Networking; and taking photographs in the headshots booth.

During the panel discussions, the “Early Career in Tech” session will feature a panel of young and successful professionals in technology who will share insights and stories about getting their journey started.

The ‘early career’ moderator will be Madison Travis with Intuitive Research & Technology. Panel speakers will be Morgan Hodgson, SAIC; Cayla Phillips, Accenture; Anna Shipman, NASA/Marshall Space Flight Center; and Liv Weaver, Intuitive Research and Technology. The target audience includes students and individuals in early years of their career.

“The Female Tech Leadership panel will focus on women leaders who have relentlessly pursued their dream and navigated the good and bad of climbing the corporate ladder,” Joshi said.

Moderators for the ‘female tech’ discussion will be Sonia Robinson, SPUR Fractional and Rashida Wilson, Alabama A&M University. Panel speakers will be Kristina Barbee, Booz Allen Hamilton; Kim Lewis, Project XYZ; Ambrosia Patterson, FBI; and Ashley Strickland, CACI. The session most likely will benefit women pursuing leadership roles and in the mid-senior level of their career.
