MADISON – With this latest book, Chris Guillebeau hopes to inspire graduates.

Guillebeau’s “Born for This” has reached number 12 on the best-seller list among all Barnes and Nobles sites nationwide. The book is on exhibit in the “Books to Inspire the Graduate” section.

“The funniest — and most inspiring — thing about this is that Chris didn’t actually graduate from high school,” Chris’s father Michael Guillebeau said. “Chris had one tough year at Bob Jones High School, one year as an honor student and then dropped out to take his GED.”

Since then, Guillebeau has gone on to earn a master’s degree and write two “New York Times” best-selling books and author a popular blog, “The Art of Non-Conformity.” The latter book has been shown to inspire thousands of people.

“Chris really is the poster child for never giving up on a child,” Michael Guillebeau said. “At Bob Jones in the 1990s, assistant principal Sam Rombokas and counselor Barbara Guay were always there for Chris whether he was doing well or not.”

During a lifetime of self-employment, Chris Guillebeau completed a four-year commitment as a volunteer executive in West Africa. Chris Guillebeau visited every country in the world (193 in total) before his 35th birthday.

He has modeled the proven definition of an entrepreneur: “Someone who will work 24 hours for themselves to avoid working one hour a day for someone else,” Michael Guillebeau said.

“‘Born for This’ is a guide to finding not just a job but the work you were born to do,” Chris Guillebeau said. Gretchen Rubin, “New York Times” best-selling author of “The Happiness Project” and “Better Than Before,” said that “‘Born for This’ is the essential guide for a career that will bring you not just a paycheck but true happiness.’”
