HUNTSVILLE – Sci-Quest Hands-on Science Center will veer from children’s activities on June 7 with the adults-only Beer Quest event.

Guests can delve into the science of beer from 3 to 7 p.m. Guests must be at least 21 years old.

“You do not want to miss this new adult-only event. Join fellow beer enthusiasts for an evening with local craft beer, carnival games, food trucks and scientific demos exploring the wonderful world of brewing science,” marketing manager Jennifer Deermer.

“Guests will not only get to taste many of their favorite local craft beers but learn why they love them so much,” Deermer said.

Local craft brewers that will be on-site are Below the Radar Brewing Company, Rocket Republic Brewing Company, Salty Nut Brewery, Blue Pants Brewery, among others. “They will discuss how they make their popular beers and, of course, the beer will be available for tasting,” Deermer said.

Local food trucks scheduled to serve are Badd Newz BBQ, On-On Tacos, Earth and Stone Wood Fired Pizza and Rollin Lobstah. Earth Fare Huntsville will serve free water and snacks.

At a home brewers showcase, guests can learn how brewers make and bottle their own beer and visit with employees from Wish You Were Beer.

“How does beer get that taste and bubbles? Find out as we explain the science behind fermentation and learn how tiny, little single-celled organisms make your beer taste so yummy,” Deermer said.

Carnival games will challenge participants at a ring toss, KEVA planks challenge, bottle cap toss and a quadcopter demo. Prizes will be awarded.

The “DIY: Upcycled Beer Crafts” table will demonstrate how to make glasses out of beer bottles and a coaster from bottle caps or wine corks. Guest can take home the crafts.

Advance tickets are $20. Guests will pay $25 at the event. Members will receive a 10-percent discount.

Sci-Quest’s address is 1435 Paramount Drive. For more information, call 256-837-0606 or visit sci-quest.org.
