MADISON – At Bananas in downtown Madison, girls enjoy exciting, over-the-top birthday parties and boutique fashions with the ‘wow’ factor.

Bananas has opened in Shoppes on Main at 14 Main St., Suite D and E. Courtney Davis and Toia Bell opened their business after coordinating and hosting parties year after year for their own children.

All-inclusive packages are fun for kids and convenient for parents with food, invitations and goody bags — even a DVD party recording.

“If you don’t have a party in our facility, we offer character and princess appearances, like Dora, Sponge Bob or Mickey & Minnie, that come to you,” Davis said.

Bananas’ quality fashions for six months to 12 years include Mud-Pie, Peppercorn Kids, Flowers By Zoe and Livie & Luca shoes. “We’re proud to carry socially responsible brands like Chooze Shoes, Happy Blankie and Persnickety Clothing and support (their) heartfelt humanitarian efforts,” Bell said.

Bell and Davis hold more than 15 years combined business experience and have coordinated youth programs in Madison County. They both earned master’s degrees. During undergraduate years, they worked in retail and learned top-notch service and how to exceed customers’ expectations.

However, their “most valuable experience and credentials come from being a mom,” they said. They were motivated to design a party experience to allow parents to relax while “we give your little girl and her friends a party she will never forget.”

Bananas’ spacious party room has a runway, private dressing rooms and “‘glam station’ decked out with bright lights and tall director’s chairs,” Davis said. Girls are pampered at a custom-built, 12-foot splash station for pedicures. The parents’ lounge has free WiFi.

In daily walk-in services, little divas can explore nail polish, pedicures, hair styling and mini-makeup applications and “strike a pose on the red-carpet paparazzi stop for celebrity-inspired photos,” Bell said.
