Asbury Community Thrift Store donates to Madison Senior Center

MADISON – Asbury Community Thrift Store (ACTS) recently made a donation to Madison Senior Center.

Senior center director Vickie Parker accepted the $1,500 donation from thrift store manager Ann Pospicil. Parker said the center will use the money to pay for Wi-Fi service for one year.

Madison Senior Center’s address is 1282 Hughes Road. The center offers daily fellowship, educational programs and recreational activities for senior adults who are at least 60 years old. The center offers lunch and a homebound meal program.

Center members regularly take day trips to attractions in Alabama and Tennessee. They sell handmade crafts merchandise at the center and at Madison Street Festival.

Transportation is available for any senior citizen living in the city limits of Madison. For more information, call 256-772-6258.

ACTS is a corporate entity, separate and distinct from Asbury United Methodist Church, which works in cooperation with Asbury UMC and other community churches. The store accepts donations of all sorts, providing a source of reasonably priced merchandise to the community.

The thrift store donates funds to various community organizations, including 305 8th Street, a residence for adults with mental challenges; Asbury Counseling Center; Bob Jones High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes; Choose Life of North Alabama; Christian Women’s Job Corp; First Priority of North Alabama; HEALS Inc. dental and medical clinic; Inside-Out Ministries; Riley Center; Royal Family Kids Camp; Society of St. Vincent De Paul; and Women of Excellence

The thrift store is open Monday through Saturday. Residents can drop off donated clothing, furniture and other items during business hours at the store.
