MADISON – Every mother who walks through the door is special at A Nurturing Moment. Recently, a new door opened at 16 Main St. in downtown Madison.

“We want (mothers) to know we truly care. We’re here to help,” Melissa Florence said. Florence coordinates the Madison satellite office. Glenni Lorick owns A Nurturing Moment.

The maternity and breastfeeding boutique is dedicated to providing education, information, support and encouragement to hopeful, expectant and new parents. “We offer breastfeeding support in your home or our three offices as provided by International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC),” Florence said.

“Our customers can call 24/7 (with) a breastfeeding emergency. We’ll do all we can to help them quickly,” Florence said.

The business also offers many breastfeeding supplies, cloth diapers and unique baby items. Clients can pick up products in Madison that they purchase in Huntsville.

In May 2005, Michele Trosclair opened A Nurturing Moment as a tiny maternity and breastfeeding boutique on Slaughter Road. By 2006, a Huntsville location opened. In 2008, Lorick purchased the business.

“We’re excited about our satellite offices in Madison and Fayetteville, Tenn. This will provide access to professional breastfeeding support to many more mothers than we’re currently reaching,” Florence said.

Making a difference for mothers and babies throughout the Tennessee Valley motivates the staff. A Nurturing Moment offers various classes, including childbirth and breastfeeding, along with monthly support groups. “We look forward to continued growth with an eventual one-stop location that will offer doula services, prenatal yoga, massage and more,” Florence said.

Florence earned a master’s degree in maternal and child health and is IBCLC-certified. A Madison native, Florence is “extremely happy that A Nurturing Moment has the opportunity to be a part of the Madison community.”

Store hours are Monday and Wednesday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday by appointment. Mommy Milk Meet-up, a breastfeeding support group, meets monthly on the second Wednesday at 3 p.m.
