Drake State offering scholarships

In an effort to make an affordable college education available to a maximum number of students, Drake State has implemented a Counselor’s Choice Scholarship. This scholarship program allows each high school in the college’s service area of Madison, Jackson and northern Morgan counties, the opportunity to award a scholarship to one qualified student. The counselors are encouraged to identify students who might not otherwise have the means to attend college. The Counselors Choice Scholarships are submitted to the college through the high school guidance counselor’s office.
Students who would like consideration for Drake State’s Institutional scholarships may apply directly to the college. The scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence and leadership skills. To qualify for an academic scholarship, a student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. The scholarship pays 100 percent of all tuition and fees related to the college. The Leadership Scholarship requires a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and pays 50 percent of the cost of tuition and fees.
The deadline for application is May 1. More information is available at drakestate.edu or by calling the Financial Aide office at 551-3124.
